Verdict: Patas is yet another stereo-typic commercial mass film and the only saving grace is the entertainment quotient.

Nandamuri Kalyan Ram is back as an actor and producer for the film Patas. He has seen a rough patch off late and a lot depended on the success of this film. He tries to play safe by opting for a commercial mass film thus targeting majority of the audience and mixing a few emotional and considerable comedy sequences. The movie might go on to become a commercial success however, lags on a lot of aspects.

Kalyan Ram seems to carry off the role of the cop pretty decently and maintains good diction for the serious dialogues. He is definitely not a terrific dancer but manages to look fine in the dance sequences. The debutante Shruti Sodhi doesn’t have a lot of screen space and just adds a little glamour to the film. Sai Kumar bags a meaty role as the DCP and does well too. Ashutosh Rana is good as the bad politician but his dubbing was not up to the mark. MS Narayana is pretty entertaining as Tsunami star Shubash. The rest of the cast like Srinivas Reddy, Shankar, Prudhvi have all done their bit to add to the entertainment. Posani Krishna Murali and Jayaprakash Reddy were okay in the couple of scenes but the director could have used their caliber in a better way.

Director Anil Ravipudi shows glimpses of talent in handling mass scenes however, doesn’t look convincing enough in the rest of the scenes. Story and screenplay by Anil himself has nothing new. Patas is another revenge drama film with a touch of emotion which is not explored well at all. The story on the whole is not at all logical and Anil should have a lot of depth in the story going forward if he plans to make it big. A few dialogues can be appreciated. Music by Sai Kartheek is forgettable and the background score is average. Choreography is also bad and so is editing. Cinematography is pretty decent.

Overall, Patas is for the audience who do not look for logic and just need a mass film with bits of comedy.
